Lift and repair of Catana 42 catamaran

Lifting this 42ft catamaran out of the river for repair work was a challenge for our Marina Team, but one they rose to admirably.

With a wide beam of 7 metres this Catana 42 catamaran called Fenchurch was too wide for any local travel lifts but needed to be hauled out for repair work to her hull. Our ingenious team lifted her ashore using a large crane and some very careful handling.

Once on dry land, Fenchurch was safely installed in Fox’s temperature controlled workshops so our team could commence the repair work to her hull. The photos below show the process of Kevlar/Glass/Epoxy composite repairs being carried out to starboard side, below waterline damage. Having checked for moisture, the hull laminate was reinstated to original specification, faired and re-finished with Hempel Silic One, silicon anti-fouling giving a super non-stick surface. One that is not only difficult for organisms to attach to, but also enables self-cleaning when the vessel is in motion.

Fenchurch's owner was delighted with the repair work and commended Fox's Workshop Supervisor "Good Morning Jordan, I got to see the finished results of your handiwork yesterday and just wanted to thank you for a superb job. I couldn't have hoped for all the repairs to have been in more competent hands, thank you"
